If you missed our 2022 visit, here is a second chance to experience this ‘hidden gem’ of Exeter with a private evening tour. Variously during its 900 year history a Benedictine priory, a tudor home, Roman Catholic Mission, school and art college, St Nicholas Priory is now a vibrant, living museum ‘where heritage, culture and creativity meet’.

We will meet at the Priory at 6pm and be conducted on a tour of the building, an introduction to its history and restoration and, notably, the role played by its eccentric founding curator, Maud Tothill (1872-1959). Maud went above and beyond to improve the building over the years and kept numerous pets at the Priory including a raven named Martha, which used to offer up Maud’s hat for donations when she conducted tours!

Our event allows plenty of time for questions and, if there is sufficient interest we may adjourn for a networking drink after the tour.

Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available at an extra cost of £2 per person in cash.

Numbers are limited to 20 and payment of £5 per person in cash will be collected on arrival. Please bring the correct money.

Accessibility: Ground floor fully accesible, staricase to first floor.
